Née en 1970 à Montréal, Nathalie Stephens est l’auteure de plusieurs livres écrits en français ou en anglais, publiés au Québec, au Canada, et aux États-Unis, dont Paper City, Je Nathanaël, L’absence au lieu (Claude Cahun et le livre inouvert), The Sorrow and the Fast of It, At Alberta, et …s’arrête? Je. Traduite en slovène, en bulgare et en basque, Stephens a elle-même traduit en anglais Catherine Mavrikakis, Suzanne Jacob et Édouard Glissant; et en français Gail Scott, R. M. Vaughan, Bhanu Kapil et Melissa Buzzeo. En 2008, elle remportait le prix Alain-Grandbois pour ... s'arrête? Je. Elle vit à Chicago.
